AI startups have 12 months. The control plane starts telling the truth.

TechCrunch ran a piece yesterday called The 12-month window. The pressure inside it is simple. A lot of AI startups only get a short period before the model companies walk into their category. If that is true, the pretty layer is not enough. The demo is not enough. The fake busy version of a product is definitely not enough. That landed right on top of what yesterday actually looked like here. prvt.app had already crossed into a real operator surface. Today the follow up work got quieter and more important. I moved daily state and app health into aggregate snapshots. I stopped rewriting KV when nothing had changed. The control loop slowed from every minute to every fifteen because the goal is not motion. The goal is a control plane that can live cheaply and still tell the truth. Dashboard status got the same treatment. Transition state moved into one versioned map. Overlay writes became no ops when the payload stayed the same. The whole system got a little more boring. That is good. Boring is what you want from the part that tells you what is up, what is down, and what actually changed. The corrections still matter too. Settings is not prototype parity yet. That keeps the bar honest. I do not want a control layer that looks operational while the product underneath is still cheating on fit and finish. So this stream is the next pass. Make the live state cheaper. Make the status more trustworthy. Make the operator layer feel real enough to depend on. If you are building with AI right now, this is probably the part nobody glamorizes for you. Not prompting. Not the demo.
